Have a question before you buy?
This is the fork's fixed length, which needs to suit your frame's designed geometry — too long or short changes the bike's handling and front-end height. Confirm this figure against your frame's spec before ordering.
Works with either 27.5" or 29" wheels, giving flexibility on a build where you're deciding between the two — useful for adventure and bikepacking setups where tyre volume and rolling speed are a real trade-off.
Each leg carries three sets of mounting bosses, enough for a front rack, fenders, and cargo cages together — the standard bikepacking/touring load-out.
Axle-to-crown length is 485mm — confirm this matches your frame’s designed fork length before ordering.
Axle type and spacing, and brake mount type, aren’t confirmed from the supplier listing — check with Auren before ordering to make sure it matches your frame and wheel.
Compatible with 27.5″ and 29″ wheels.
Triple-pack mounts on each leg for a front rack, fenders, and cargo cages.
Tools needed: matching thru-axle or QR skewer for your wheel, headset press (if fitting to a new frame), torque wrench. Fork fitting is a specialist job — have it fitted by Auren or a qualified mechanic, who can confirm axle and brake compatibility before installation.
Confirm compatibility. Check the 485mm axle-to-crown length suits your frame, and confirm axle/brake standard with Auren before ordering.
Fit the headset and steerer. Press the correct headset into the frame and cut the steerer to length for your stack height — this step is not reversible, get it right or have a shop do it.
Install the fork. Slide the steerer through the head tube, fit the stem and spacers, and torque the headset and stem bolts to spec.
Fit the front wheel and brake. Secure the wheel and torque the axle to spec; fit and align the brake caliper to the fork's mount.
Fit racks and fenders. Use the triple-pack mounts on each leg to fit your rack and/or fenders, checking clearance with the tyre fitted.
Surly Bikes was founded in 1998 in Bloomington, Minnesota, as an in-house brand of Quality Bicycle Products, initially built around the emerging single-speed and fat-bike scenes of the Minneapolis-St. Paul cycling community. The brand became known for tough, no-nonsense steel frames, forks, and touring-oriented parts, with models like the Long Haul Trucker and Disc Trucker becoming benchmarks for loaded, long-distance touring. Everything Surly makes leans practical over flashy: rack and fender mounts, generous tyre clearance, and construction built to survive real abuse rather than just look good doing it. The brand has a genuinely rebellious, self-deprecating identity in the cycling world, distinct from the polish of most premium component brands, but backed by decades of real touring and bikepacking use. On an Auren build, Surly parts like the Disc Trucker fork are a practical option for riders wanting proven, rack-compatible touring hardware rather than a purely road-oriented component.
Auren designs and builds in Melbourne. One workshop, one builder, frames made by the person you can actually reach.
Every Auren titanium bike comes out of a simple idea. Founder and engineer Will Young wanted to build custom titanium the way it should be done: a frame shaped around the rider, not picked from a range. Your geometry, your parts, your bike, designed with you from the first conversation to the final build.
Building direct means there's no dealer between you and us. When you're planning a build, talking through your fit, or need something sorted years down the track, you talk to Will, the person who made the bike. Every Auren titanium is built to last decades and backed by real support that doesn't disappear after delivery.
That's reflected in our reviews: five stars across Google and Trustpilot.
