Titanium Bike customisation options

Every decision.
Made together.

Most bikes are built for a category of rider. Auren is built for one: you. Every choice below is made in conversation — your body, your riding, your priorities. Nothing is selected from a dropdown. Nothing is compromised because it was already in stock.

This is what full customisation actually looks like.

01 Geometry

The foundation of
everything else.

Geometry is everything. Get it right and a long day on rough ground feels effortless. Get it wrong and you're fighting the bike instead of riding it. Every Auren frame is designed around your body — not a size run. There are three ways we arrive at your geometry.

Most precise Option 1

Dynamic bike fit.

A professional bike fit, either in our Melbourne workshop or via emailed report data, gives us exact measurements of your body in motion. From there, Will designs a frame around how you actually ride, not how you stand still.

Best for

Riders who want every millimetre dialled in, or anyone with a history of fit-related discomfort.

Fastest path Option 2

Mirror existing geometry.

If your current bike fits well but isn't the bike you want to be riding for the next twenty years, we replicate the geometry that already works and build it into titanium. Comfort you know, material that lasts.

Best for

Riders who love how their bike fits and just want to upgrade the frame.

No fit needed Option 3

Standard geometry.

We start with a geometry profile matched to your height and riding style, then adjust from there. Not custom fit, but still deliberate — and always better than off-the-rack.

Best for

Riders without a professional fit who want to move quickly.

02 Tyre Clearance

Built for where
you actually ride.

Where you ride determines what you need. We size the clearance around your terrain — not a generalised compromise.

Asphalt 700×28–32c

Disc road.

Built for asphalt. Fast, tight, low rolling resistance. If the majority of your riding is tarmac, this is the spec.

Speed + comfort 700×28–35c

All-road.

The speed/comfort blend. Handles smooth tarmac and the occasional rough stretch without sacrificing pace.

Most versatile 700×32–45c / 650b×2.25

Gravel.

The all-rounder. One bike for road, gravel, dirt, and fire trail. The frame most of our customers choose.

Best for

Riders who want one bike that handles everything.

Off-road 29×2.4+ / 27.5×2.4+

Adventure, XC & trail.

Maximum clearance for proper off-road use. Mountain bike parks, technical singletrack, and terrain that punishes anything less.

03 Bottom Bracket Shell

The part that ends
rides, if you get it wrong.

Creaks cost you rides. The bottom bracket shell affects stiffness, serviceability, and long-term reliability more than most riders realise. We're direct about our preference here.

Recommended T47

T47.

Threaded shell, large diameter. The best of both worlds: the reliability of threading and the stiffness of a wider BB. No press-fit creak risk. Easier to service. Better internal cable routing. This is what we recommend for almost every build.

Runner-up BSA

BSA.

The tried-and-tested threaded standard. Similar reliability to T47, slightly smaller diameter. A solid choice if you have existing BB hardware you want to carry across.

OTHER Pinion Shell, Eccentric BB, Pressfit…

Have a specific drivetrain or build in mind? We'll make it work.

04 Headset

Smooth, stiff, and
invisible for years.

The headset connects your fork to your frame.

Durable Semi-integrated tapered
1⅛–1.5, 44/56

Semi-integrated tapered.

Pressed-in cups protect the frame, tapered steerer adds front-end serviceability, and this standard fits virtually every modern fork on the market. Our recommendation for the overwhelming majority of builds.

FOR HIDDEN CABLING FSA ACR 52/52 Integrated

Running a specific fork with its own headset requirement? We'll accommodate it. Tell us what you're working with.

OTHER Fully Integrated, Zero Stack/External Cup and More

Fully Integrated, Zero Stack/External Cup and More.

We can accommodate all other common headset standards to suit individual preference and the overall vibe of the build.

05 Cable Routing

How it looks.
How it survives.

How your cables run affects how the bike looks, how dirt and water interact with the frame, and how easy it is to service in the field. The right option depends on your groupset and where you ride.

For 1× setups Tube-in-tube internal

Tube-in-tube internal.

Cables run fully inside the frame through dedicated internal tubes. No rattle, no external housing, no entry points for mud or water. Clean, quiet, low-maintenance.

Best for

1× gravel and mountain builds.

For 2× & Di2 Hidden or cap internal

Hidden or cap internal.

Sleek internal routing with the flexibility to switch between electronic and mechanical shifting. The right call if you're running Di2 or thinking about it in the future.

Best for

2× and Di2 / mechanical builds.

For expedition External

External.

Fully accessible. If you're servicing a cable on a remote fire trail with what's in your pack, external routing is what makes that possible. No routing channels, no ferrule hunting — just the cable in front of you.

Best for

Remote and expedition riding.

06 Dropouts

What wheels can run.
How your drivetrain works.

Dropouts determine what wheels you can run and how your drivetrain works. UDH and Direct Mount available. We match them to your build from the start so there are no compatibility headaches later.

Road & gravel 12×100 – 12×142

Gravel & disc road.

The modern through-axle standard for road and gravel. Stiff, secure, and compatible with the vast majority of hubs on the market.

MTB Boost 15×110 – 12×148

XC & trail hardtail.

The standard for mountain bike builds. Non-boost and extra-wide options available depending on your wheel spec.

On request Rocker / Sliding / QR / Nutted

Belt drive, Rohloff & Pinion.

Running a belt drive, Rohloff, Pinion, or single speed? We've built for all of them — including Australia's leading Pinion build list. Tell us what you're speccing.

07 Brakes

Mount to suit
the rotor, the ride.

Brake mount choice is about matching your wheels and riding style. We spec the mount to suit the rotor size and position that works best for your build.

Road & gravel Flat-mount disc

Flat-mount disc.

The clean modern standard. 160mm rear rotor as standard without adapters. Lighter, lower-profile, and the right choice for most gravel and road builds.

Best for

Gravel and disc road.

Adventure & MTB IS / post-mount disc

IS or post-mount disc.

More flexibility in rotor size and mounting position. The right call for mountain builds and adventure rigs where larger rotors and frame clearance matter.

Best for

Adventure and MTB.

Classic road Rim brake

Rim brake.

For the riders who want none of this. Rim brake geometry, no disc tabs, clean lines. We can do it. We respect it.

07Gravel UDH dropout with flatmount brakes
08 Seat Tube & Seatpost

Diameter, dropper,
and long-day comfort.

Seatpost diameter affects what dropper posts you can run and how much natural compliance you get from the frame. We spec it to your riding type.

Road & gravel 27.2mm

27.2mm.

The classic standard. Slightly narrower diameter means a touch more compliance from the seatpost itself — a genuine benefit on long days. Light, and compatible with most quality seatposts on the market.

MTB 31.6mm

31.6mm.

The size most dropper seatposts are built around. If a dropper is in your build, this is where we start.

09 Mounts

Where the bike
becomes a system.

Mounts are where the bike becomes a system. We add what you need and leave off what you don't — nothing is welded on by default just because it's possible. But it is possible.

Standard mounts available

Front bottle / bidon — top of down tube, front of seat tube
Secondary bottle — under down tube
Bento / top tube bag anchor points
Rear pannier rack mounts
Fender / mudguard mounts
Front derailleur braze-on
Frame bag anchor points
Need something else? Ask. We've accommodated enough unusual requests that we've stopped being surprised.

10 Finishing Touches

Raw by default.
Yours if you want it.

Every Auren is raw brushed titanium by default. If you want to go further, we can.

i

Head-tube logo.

Sandblasted or engraved — whichever suits the look you're after. The Auren mark on the metal it was built from.

ii

Custom graphics.

Your name. A meaningful emblem. Coordinates of a ride that mattered. Blasted directly into the frame, permanent without paint. Bring the idea and we'll work out how to execute it.

iii

Paint & anodising.

Not into the raw look? We can paint or anodise the frame. Tell us your vision on the first call and we'll make it happen.

10Painted finish
11 All the Other Parts

Complete the build.
Or just the frame.

If you're looking for a full bike, we can spec it all out on the call to suit your ride and your budget — including a wide range of forks, alloy and carbon wheels, and more.

Not sure where to start?

You don't need to know any
of this before booking a call.

Will walks you through every decision, in order, with a recommendation and a reason for each one. The first call is free, there's no commitment, and most riders leave it with a clear picture of what they want and what it costs.
