Most eBikes come with a maintenance shopping list attached: cleaning, lubricating and replacing chains, gear cables, brake and derailleur adjustments, lights to recharge. The EV5 was engineered to need almost none of it.

105 km in eco, 85 km in sport, 60 km in boost, based on a 70 kg rider on mixed terrain. For most commutes, that's a full working week on a single charge.

It feels like nothing, which is the point. The hub reads your cadence and speed and shifts for you before you'd even think to. Within two minutes of your first ride, you stop noticing it entirely.

The EV5 uses Samsung 500 Wh cells with a Grade A BMS. The fires you've read about are almost always cheap, uncertified batteries. This is not one of those bikes.
