EV5 — At a glance

The numbers that matter most.

Motor
Ananda R900 · 250W · 50Nm
Battery
Samsung 36V 500Wh Li-Ion
Range (eco)
105 km
Drivetrain
Michelin belt · 30,000km rated
Bike weight

Charge time
~2 hours · 36V 4A fast charger

Every component below was chosen because it's the best available option for its job, not because it was cheapest to source or easiest to spec. The Michelin belt doesn't need oil. The Ananda gearbox doesn't need adjusting. The Samsung cells don't run on a generic BMS. The EV5 is designed to need almost nothing from you, and to last.

01

Key components.

The major systems that define the riding experience.

Frame & Fork
Hydroformed alloy · 700×45C tyre clearance

Light, durable, and repairable. Hydroforming allows complex tube shapes without added weight, which is why this material is correct for daily urban use. The 700×45C clearance handles everything from smooth tarmac to light gravel without a tyre swap.

Motor / Gearbox
Ananda R900 · 250W · 50Nm · Automatic gearbox-motor unit

An integrated unit where the motor and gearbox are a single sealed assembly. This is why the EV5 has no gear cables, no derailleur, and no compatibility problems — the gearbox and motor interact directly. The system reads your speed and gradient and shifts without any input from you. You pedal. It handles the rest.

Battery
Samsung 36V 500Wh Li-Ion · Integrated and removable · With BMS

Samsung premium cells — the same cells you'd choose knowing you needed reliability. The Battery Management System (BMS) prevents the charging and temperature conditions that cause cheap-battery fires. This is not a compromise component. The battery integrates cleanly into the frame and is removable for charging indoors.

Drivetrain
Michelin Carbon CDX belt drive

Rated past 30,000km. Runs completely dry — no grease, no oil, no chain lube. Quieter than a chain, and resistant to the stretch and wear that makes chains a recurring maintenance item. The belt is the reason there's no grease on your trousers and no degreaser under your sink.

Brakeset
Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc

Powerful, quiet, and progressive. Hydraulic disc brakes self-adjust as the pads wear — no cable tension to fiddle with, no gradual loss of feel. Modulates cleanly in wet conditions. The MT200 is a Shimano-engineered component; it's not the flashiest brakeset available, but it's chosen because it works correctly every time.

Charger
42V charger for 36V battery · 4A fast charge

Approximately 2 hours for a full charge. Built-in overcharge protection — the charger cuts off automatically at capacity. One cable, standard Australian plug. No app, no pairing.

Lights
Integrated front and rear LEDs · Battery-powered

Run off the main battery. Always there when you need them. Nothing to clip on, nothing to recharge separately, nothing to forget before a night ride. Integrated into the frame — not bolted on as an afterthought.

Mudguards
Alloy · Integrated

Alloy rather than plastic — strong enough to handle the knocks of urban riding, durable in all conditions. Integrated, not clamped on. Dry legs. Dry back. No sacrificed bag.

Kickstand
Alloy · Chainstay-mounted

Direct chainstay mount for stability and ease of use. The EV5 is a commuter bike — you park it repeatedly, in everyday clothing. The kickstand is stable enough to hold 20kg of bike confidently.

On component choice: every part listed here was chosen because it's the correct tool for the job at this price point. Where a cheaper alternative existed, it was considered and rejected. Where a more expensive alternative existed, it was considered and included if the difference was meaningful to the rider. The spec sheet reflects that process.

02

Frame & geometry.

The shape of the bike and the experience it produces.

Frame style Low standover — particularly in smaller sizes — for ease of mounting and dismounting in everyday clothing.
Geometry Slightly upright riding position. Designed for navigating traffic and seeing junctions, not for an aerodynamic tuck. Comfortable to share between riders of different body types without technical adjustment.
Tyre clearance 700×45C. Handles tarmac, bike paths, and light gravel. No tyre swap needed for mixed-surface commuting.
Design origin From and for Australia. Blends American cycling culture (light, sleek, sporty) with Dutch and German biking culture (durable, fully-equipped, low-maintenance). Designed from the ground up — every part is intentional.
03

Other components.

Specifications for the supporting components that complete the build.
