One-piece axle

A single-piece axle design adds stiffness over a multi-part axle assembly, which translates into a more precise, confident-feeling front end, particularly on rough or technical terrain.

Wide flange placement

Wider flange spacing improves spoke bracing angle, which makes for a stronger, stiffer wheel build — particularly valuable on a touring or bikepacking wheel carrying real load.

Sealed bearings, heat-treated races

The bearing seals and snaprings keep water and grit out, while heat-treated surgical-grade steel races resist wear — built for a hub that lives outdoors through wet commutes and long tours rather than a controlled environment.

Fork / axle:

Fits forks with 110x15mm Boost thru-axle spacing — does NOT fit 100x15mm (non-Boost) or quick-release forks.

Brakes:

Centerlock rotor mount — fits Centerlock rotors directly. 6-bolt rotors work with a Centerlock-to-6-bolt adapter (sold separately). Not for rim-brake wheels.

Wheel build:

Supplied as a bare hub — must be laced to a rim to build a wheel. Spoke count: choose 28H or 32H to match your rim. Auren can build this into a complete wheel for you.

Tools needed: matching 15mm thru-axle, Centerlock lockring tool, torque wrench. Lacing the hub into a wheel is a wheelbuilder job.

1

Build into a wheel. This hub comes as a bare hub — have it laced to a compatible 28H or 32H rim with spokes before anything else. Auren can build the wheel for you if you'd rather not source a builder.

2

Fit the rotor. Mount a Centerlock disc rotor and tighten the lockring to the rotor maker's torque spec (typically around 40 Nm).

3

Fit the wheel. Slide the wheel into the fork's 110x15mm thru-axle dropouts and torque the axle to the fork manufacturer's spec.

4

Check it spins true. Lift the front wheel and spin it — confirm the rotor runs true in the caliper and the wiring (if fitted with a dynamo elsewhere) is clear of the rotor and tyre.

Chris King Precision Components was founded in 1976 in Santa Barbara, California, when Chris King set out to build a better bicycle headset, and the company now manufactures entirely in-house at its own factory in Portland, Oregon. It's best known for its sealed angular-contact bearings and the distinctive buzzing freehub sound on its hubs, both of which have become a kind of signature within serious cycling circles. Every component is designed to be fully serviceable and rebuildable rather than replaced, backed by a genuine lifetime warranty on its core products, and the brand was the first in the bike industry to meet B Corporation sustainability standards. Its bright, anodised colourways have also made it something of a status marker on a build — riders notice Chris King hubs. On a custom titanium build, Chris King represents the premium end of the parts spec: a component chosen by riders who want investment-grade hardware that will outlast the rest of the bike.

Auren designs and builds in Melbourne. One workshop, one builder, frames made by the person you can actually reach.

Every Auren titanium bike comes out of a simple idea. Founder and engineer Will Young wanted to build custom titanium the way it should be done: a frame shaped around the rider, not picked from a range. Your geometry, your parts, your bike, designed with you from the first conversation to the final build.

Building direct means there's no dealer between you and us. When you're planning a build, talking through your fit, or need something sorted years down the track, you talk to Will, the person who made the bike. Every Auren titanium is built to last decades and backed by real support that doesn't disappear after delivery.

That's reflected in our reviews: five stars across Google and Trustpilot.
