Semi-integrated design

The cups sit partly inside the head tube, giving a cleaner look and lower stack than a fully external headset, while staying straightforward to service — a middle ground Auren uses as the standard fit across its titanium range.

44/56 tapered sizing

A 44mm top bearing and 56mm bottom bearing suit a 1-1/8" to 1.5" tapered steerer, which is the standard on Auren's titanium framesets and forks — wider at the bottom for stiffness and steering precision, narrower at the top to keep the front end from feeling bulky.

Sealed cartridge bearings

Sealed bearings keep water and grit out, so the headset stays smooth with minimal maintenance — worth it on a bike that's going to see gravel, dirt, or all-weather touring.

This is Auren’s standard headset fit — if you’re pairing it with a non-Auren frame or fork, confirm head tube and steerer compatibility with Will before ordering.

Tools needed: Headset press, star nut/compression plug setting tool, torque wrench, hex keys.

1

Press the top and bottom cups into the head tube square and fully seated.

2

Fit the bottom bearing over the fork's crown race.

3

Insert the fork through the frame and fit the top bearing and compression ring.

4

Fit the star nut or compression plug in the steerer, then the top cap.

5

Tighten the top cap to preload the headset — no play, no binding when turning the bars lock to lock.

6

Fit the stem, torque to the manufacturer's spec, and recheck for play or binding before riding.

Auren designs and builds in Melbourne. One workshop, one builder, frames made by the person you can actually reach.

Every Auren titanium bike comes out of a simple idea. Founder and engineer Will Young wanted to build custom titanium the way it should be done: a frame shaped around the rider, not picked from a range. Your geometry, your parts, your bike, designed with you from the first conversation to the final build.

Building direct means there's no dealer between you and us. When you're planning a build, talking through your fit, or need something sorted years down the track, you talk to Will, the person who made the bike. Every Auren titanium is built to last decades and backed by real support that doesn't disappear after delivery.

That's reflected in our reviews: five stars across Google and Trustpilot.
