Triple-pack mounts

Each fork blade carries three sets of mounting bosses, enough for a front rack, fenders, and low-rider panniers all at once — the standard touring load-carrying setup. That's the difference between a touring-specific fork and a standard gravel or road fork with one or two mount points.

Steel construction

Steel is easy to repair almost anywhere in the world, which is the whole point of a touring fork — if something goes wrong on a remote trip, a local welder can usually get you moving again in a way that's not possible with carbon or most aluminium.

Dynamo routing

Internal routing for a front dynamo hub's wiring is already built in, so if you're running or planning to add a dynamo lighting or charging setup, the cable can run cleanly through the fork rather than taped to the outside.

Frame / axle:

12mm thru-axle, 100mm spacing — does NOT fit quick-release or Boost 12x110mm forks.
Straight 1-1/8″ steerer, 350mm long — confirm this suits your frame’s head tube and stack height before ordering.

Brakes:

Flat Mount disc only, 160mm max rotor.
Not for rim-brake wheels.

Wheels / tyres:

Built for 700c wheels, up to 700×50 tyre clearance.

Racks / fenders:

Triple-pack mounts on each blade for a front rack, fenders, and low-rider panniers.

Tools needed: matching 12mm thru-axle, headset press (if fitting to a new frame), torque wrench. Fork fitting is a specialist job — have it fitted by Auren or a qualified mechanic.

1

Confirm compatibility. Check your frame's axle standard (12x100mm), steerer type (straight 1-1/8"), and stack height (350mm steerer) before ordering.

2

Fit the headset and steerer. Press the correct headset into the frame and cut the steerer to length for your stack height — this step is not reversible, get it right or have a shop do it.

3

Install the fork. Slide the steerer through the head tube, fit the stem and spacers, and torque the headset and stem bolts to spec.

4

Fit the front wheel. Secure the wheel with the 12x100mm thru-axle and torque to spec.

5

Fit racks and fenders. Use the triple-pack mounts on each blade to fit your front rack and/or fenders, checking clearance with the tyre fitted.

Surly Bikes was founded in 1998 in Bloomington, Minnesota, as an in-house brand of Quality Bicycle Products, initially built around the emerging single-speed and fat-bike scenes of the Minneapolis-St. Paul cycling community. The brand became known for tough, no-nonsense steel frames, forks, and touring-oriented parts, with models like the Long Haul Trucker and Disc Trucker becoming benchmarks for loaded, long-distance touring. Everything Surly makes leans practical over flashy: rack and fender mounts, generous tyre clearance, and construction built to survive real abuse rather than just look good doing it. The brand has a genuinely rebellious, self-deprecating identity in the cycling world, distinct from the polish of most premium component brands, but backed by decades of real touring and bikepacking use. On an Auren build, Surly parts like the Disc Trucker fork are a practical option for riders wanting proven, rack-compatible touring hardware rather than a purely road-oriented component.

Auren designs and builds in Melbourne. One workshop, one builder, frames made by the person you can actually reach.

Every Auren titanium bike comes out of a simple idea. Founder and engineer Will Young wanted to build custom titanium the way it should be done: a frame shaped around the rider, not picked from a range. Your geometry, your parts, your bike, designed with you from the first conversation to the final build.

Building direct means there's no dealer between you and us. When you're planning a build, talking through your fit, or need something sorted years down the track, you talk to Will, the person who made the bike. Every Auren titanium is built to last decades and backed by real support that doesn't disappear after delivery.

That's reflected in our reviews: five stars across Google and Trustpilot.
