Have a question before you buy?
A high-engagement freehub picks up drive quickly, so there's less dead movement at the pedals before power goes to the wheel — noticeable on technical climbs and standing starts. The 6-pawl multi-grip design spreads that load across more contact points for extra strength and durability, rather than concentrating it on a few pawls. It's built to take abuse under load.
The steel axle is chosen for strength in loaded, high-stress applications like MTB and bikepacking, where a lighter axle can flex or fatigue. Even flange spacing means the spokes tension more evenly side to side, which builds into a stronger, more balanced, longer-lasting wheel. It's a durability-first hub, not a weight-weenie one.
The freehub is HG-splined and set up for single speed — you fit a single cog with the included spacers to dial in your chainline, adding freehub spacers as needed for your frame. Some cogs are offset and bi-directional, so you can flip them to fine-tune chainline. It suits a single chain or belt cog, and is an ideal match for a pinion gearbox build.
Check the axle standard suits your frame and fork, and that your drivetrain is single-cog.
Front → 12×100, or 15×110 (Boost)
Rear → 12×142, or 12×148 (Boost)
Confirm both the axle diameter and the spacing match your frame and fork before ordering.
Use 6-bolt rotors.
Suitable for setups with a single rear chain or belt cog (single speed). Ideal for a pinion gearbox build.
The HG single-speed freehub takes an HG-splined cog; set chainline with the included spacers.
32H, J-bend, 14-gauge spokes, 2.6mm spoke holes. Even flange spacing for a balanced build.

Tools needed: 39mm freehub lockring tool, a torque wrench, your thru-axle, your single-speed cog and spacers, plus wheel-building tools if you're lacing the wheel yourself.
Build or have the wheel built — 32H, J-bend spokes. The even flange spacing helps achieve balanced spoke tension.
Fit your 6-bolt rotor to the disc mount and torque the bolts to spec.
Install the single-speed cog on the HG freehub. Use the included spacers (and add freehub spacers as needed) to set your chainline; some cogs are offset and bi-directional, so flip them to fine-tune it.
Torque the freehub lockring to 40Nm with the 39mm tool. The included 5mm spacer has 39mm flats to anchor against, which makes cog removal easier later.
Fit the wheel into the frame or fork and tighten the thru-axle to spec.
Check chainline (or beltline), confirm the rotor runs true in the caliper, then bed in the brakes before riding.
Auren designs and builds in Melbourne. One workshop, one builder, frames made by the person you can actually reach.
Every Auren titanium bike comes out of a simple idea. Founder and engineer Will Young wanted to build custom titanium the way it should be done: a frame shaped around the rider, not picked from a range. Your geometry, your parts, your bike, designed with you from the first conversation to the final build.
Building direct means there's no dealer between you and us. When you're planning a build, talking through your fit, or need something sorted years down the track, you talk to Will, the person who made the bike. Every Auren titanium is built to last decades and backed by real support that doesn't disappear after delivery.
That's reflected in our reviews: five stars across Google and Trustpilot.
