Have a question before you buy?
An aerospace-grade titanium alloy. It flexes just enough to absorb high-frequency road and trail vibration before it reaches your hands, so the front end stays comfortable on long or rough rides. It also doesn't rust or corrode, and resists the fatigue cracking that ends the life of aluminium stems — which is why a titanium stem can outlast several alloy ones.
The stem ships at a 6° angle, a versatile standard that suits most fits and can run rise-up or slammed depending on orientation. If you need your bars higher or lower than 6° allows, we machine the angle to whatever your fit calls for as a custom build.
The titanium is anodised, a surface treatment that hardens the outer layer for added scratch and wear resistance and gives a clean, consistent finish. Unlike paint it won't chip or flake. It's protective and cosmetic rather than structural.
Beyond the eight stock lengths, we can build a stem to your exact length and angle — useful for dialling in a fit that off-the-shelf sizing can't hit. Custom stems are made to order with a 4-month lead time; stock lengths ship on standard delivery.
Three things decide fit: your fork’s steerer diameter, your handlebar’s clamp diameter, and the length/angle you want.
If your fork uses a different steerer diameter, or your bars use a clamp size other than 31.8mm, get in touch before ordering — we can advise or build to spec.
Tools needed: torque wrench, the hex/Allen keys that match your stem bolts, titanium-friendly grease (or carbon assembly paste if you're clamping a carbon bar or steerer).
Slide the stem onto the fork steerer and set your spacer stack and bar height. Leave the steerer cap and clamp bolts loose for now.
Lightly grease the steerer clamp bolts, or use carbon assembly paste on a carbon steerer.
Fit the handlebar into the clamp, centre it, and start all face-plate bolts by hand to avoid cross-threading.
Set the headset preload with the top cap before tightening the steerer clamp bolts.
Tighten the steerer clamp bolts evenly to 5 Nm.
Tighten the face-plate bolts evenly in a cross pattern to 5 Nm, keeping an even gap top and bottom.
Check bar and stem alignment, then confirm every bolt is torqued to 5 Nm.
Auren designs and builds in Melbourne. One workshop, one builder, frames made by the person you can actually reach.
Every Auren titanium bike comes out of a simple idea. Founder and engineer Will Young wanted to build custom titanium the way it should be done: a frame shaped around the rider, not picked from a range. Your geometry, your parts, your bike, designed with you from the first conversation to the final build.
Building direct means there's no dealer between you and us. When you're planning a build, talking through your fit, or need something sorted years down the track, you talk to Will, the person who made the bike. Every Auren titanium is built to last decades and backed by real support that doesn't disappear after delivery.
That's reflected in our reviews: five stars across Google and Trustpilot.
