BSA threading

BSA (English) threading is the standard threaded bottom bracket shell used on most titanium frames, avoiding the tolerance and creaking issues that can come with press-fit designs. Threaded shells are also easier to service and less prone to developing noise over time.

Serviceable Enduro bearings

Unlike a sealed, disposable bottom bracket, the bearings in this BB can be cleaned in place or replaced individually when they wear, rather than binning the whole unit. That keeps long-term running costs down and suits a bike you're planning to keep for years.

Spindle options

Cranks use different spindle diameters depending on brand and standard — Shimano's Hollowtech II is 24mm, SRAM DUB is 29mm, and several other brands (Race Face, Praxis) use 30mm. Choosing the matching spindle option is what actually determines compatibility with your crank, not the bottom bracket shell alone.

Frame shell:

BSA (English) threaded shell only, 68mm (road) or 73mm (MTB) width — not for press-fit (PF30, BB30, 386EVO) or T47 shells.

Crank / spindle:

Spindle optionMatches

Choose the spindle option that matches your crank at purchase — the bottom bracket shell standard (BSA) and the crank spindle standard are two separate things that both need to match.

Tools needed: BSA bottom bracket tool (splined or external type, depending on cup design), torque wrench, bottom bracket-specific anti-seize or grease.

1

Confirm your spindle option. Double check the bottom bracket you've ordered (Shimano 24, SRAM DUB 29, or 30mm) matches your crank's spindle before starting.

2

Prep the shell. Clean and lightly grease or anti-seize the frame's BSA threads before installing.

3

Thread in the cups. Install the drive-side and non-drive-side cups by hand first to avoid cross-threading, then torque to Wheels MFG's spec with a BB tool.

4

Fit the crank. Install your crank per its own manufacturer's instructions, checking it seats fully against the bearings.

5

Check for play and smooth rotation. Spin the crank and check for side-to-side play or roughness before riding — have Auren or a mechanic check it if unsure.

Wheels Manufacturing started in 1988 as a small machine shop in Boulder, Colorado, making cog-removal tools and chainring spacers, and has since grown into one of the largest suppliers of bottom brackets, derailleur hangers, and small parts in the bike industry. Its specialty is solving the industry's messy compatibility problems, offering bottom brackets across nearly every standard on the market, including T47, BSA, PF30, BB30, and 386EVO, alongside more than 400 derailleur hanger options machined to fit specific frame models. Every bottom bracket uses genuine Enduro bearings and is designed to be fully serviceable, with bearings that can be cleaned or replaced rather than the whole unit being thrown away. The brand is based in Louisville, Colorado, and still machines the bulk of its products in the US using CNC mills and lathes on-site. On a titanium build, Wheels MFG is a common choice for the bottom bracket itself, particularly T47, since it's a reliable, genuinely serviceable option built specifically to solve fitment and compatibility issues rather than being a generic afterthought part.

Auren designs and builds in Melbourne. One workshop, one builder, frames made by the person you can actually reach.

Every Auren titanium bike comes out of a simple idea. Founder and engineer Will Young wanted to build custom titanium the way it should be done: a frame shaped around the rider, not picked from a range. Your geometry, your parts, your bike, designed with you from the first conversation to the final build.

Building direct means there's no dealer between you and us. When you're planning a build, talking through your fit, or need something sorted years down the track, you talk to Will, the person who made the bike. Every Auren titanium is built to last decades and backed by real support that doesn't disappear after delivery.

That's reflected in our reviews: five stars across Google and Trustpilot.
