01 Buying the EV5

The purchase process.

How buying the EV5 works — from clicking purchase to the bike arriving at your door.

Purchase is completed online through the Auren website. Add the EV5 to cart, enter your delivery details, and check out. Will is notified the moment your order comes through.

Yes. Every EV5 purchase comes with a two-week trial. Ride it for fourteen days — commuting, errands, weekends — and if it's not right for you, return it. No fees, no questions.

After you purchase, we dispatch the bike. Your trial window opens two days after dispatch, to account for delivery. You have fourteen days from that point to put the bike through its paces.

If you're keeping it, nothing changes — the purchase stands. If you'd like to return it, contact Will within the window to arrange the return.

Contact Will within your two-week trial window and he'll arrange it. We ask that you cover return shipping and hold onto the original packaging to make that straightforward. Full terms are on the website.

Delivery is free, anywhere in Australia. We'll be in touch with your delivery details after purchase. If there's anything to sort on the logistics side, Will handles it personally.

The EV5 arrives mostly assembled. A few peripheral parts — the handlebar, pedals, front wheel, and front mudguard — need to be fitted, but nothing that requires specialist tools or experience. A digital manual is included, and Will is available if you have any questions on arrival.

02 The product

What the EV5 is.

How it works and what the key specs mean in practice.

Most e-bikes are chain-driven and manually geared. They bring the same maintenance as a regular bike — chain oiling, gear adjustments, derailleur alignment — plus the complexity of a motor on top.

The EV5 has a belt drive instead of a chain (no oil, no stretch, rated past 30,000km) and a sealed automatic gearbox (no cables, no indexing, no derailleur). Lights and mudguards ship with the bike as standard. It's the lowest-maintenance commuter e-bike in Australia.

The Ananda R900 gearbox reads your cadence and speed and shifts for you — continuously and automatically. There's no gear lever and no decision to make. On a rise, it adjusts before you'd have thought to change gear yourself. Most riders stop noticing it within the first two minutes.

105 km 85 km 70 km Eco mode Normal Boost

Based on a 70kg rider on mixed terrain. For most commutes, that's a full working week on a single charge.

Around two hours for a full charge, using the included 36V 4A fast charger. Built-in overcharge protection means you can leave it plugged in without concern.

The fires you've read about are almost always cheap, uncertified batteries — typically in budget bikes sold without safety testing. The EV5 uses Samsung 500Wh cells with an integrated battery management system and is EN15194 compliant. It's not in the same category as those bikes.

Yes. The automatic gearbox adjusts continuously to the gradient, and 50Nm of torque from the Ananda R900 means you get off the line cleanly and stay comfortable on inclines. The motor earns its keep most on steep grades — which is exactly when you want it to.

The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes modulate confidently in wet conditions, and the integrated alloy mudguards keep the spray off you and the bike. It's built for Australian commuting, not smooth, dry European bike lanes.

The automatic gearbox adjusts for gradient — hills stop being something you think about. The CST 700×38C all-road tyres are stable on gravel and quick on sealed roads. The hydraulic brakes handle wet conditions without fuss. It's designed for real Australian commutes.

20kg.

Four frame sizes, covering a range of rider heights. Use the sizing guide on the product page to find your fit. The low standover design — particularly on smaller sizes — means the bike is accessible across a wider range of bodies and riders in everyday clothing.

Yes. One model, two colours, specified and finished properly. The dollars saved on variation go into the components.

The bike (major assembly completed), pedals, front and rear lights (integrated), front and rear mudguards (integrated), 36V 4A fast charger, two keys, and a digital manual. A front rack is available as an optional extra.

Yes. It's EN15194 compliant and designed to Australian e-bike regulations, with assisted speed limited to 25km/h.

03 After purchase

Owning the EV5.

Maintenance, servicing, warranty, and support — what owning the EV5 actually looks like.

Very little, compared to a standard chain-drive e-bike. The belt runs dry — no oiling, no degreasing. The sealed gearbox needs no cable adjustments or indexing. The hydraulic brakes self-adjust as pads wear. The lights run off the main battery.

What remains: tyre pressure checks, occasional brake pad replacement when worn, and plugging in the charger after rides. Once a year covers most riders for any hands-on service.

In Melbourne, Will handles servicing personally. Across Australia, Auren has a network of partner bike shops that can service the EV5. It can also be serviced at most general bike shops — belt drive and sealed gearbox are well understood by any competent mechanic.

Auren is an Australian business, which means Australian Consumer Law applies — not the limited, hard-to-enforce terms you often see from overseas DTC brands. Full warranty terms are on the Auren warranty page.

The Michelin belt is rated past 30,000km — multiple years of heavy daily use. The Samsung 500Wh battery retains usable range for 5+ years under typical charge cycles. The Ananda R900 gearbox is a sealed unit designed for long-term reliability.

Contact Will directly. There's no ticketing system, no call centre, no offshore support queue. The person who built the bike is the person who answers. For hands-on work outside Melbourne, he can direct you to the nearest partner shop.

04 Other

A few other things people ask.

Fair question. Read the Google reviews — all verified. Then email Will directly and see how long it takes to get a real reply. The two-week trial exists precisely so you don't have to take anyone's word for it.

Because most e-bike ranges are full of variation that dilutes budget and adds complexity without improving the product. One model, built properly, with every dollar in the right component — that's the decision.

Email is the best way: info@aurenbikes.com.au. If you're in Melbourne and want to see the bike in person before purchasing, reach out and Will will arrange it.
